Network Maintenance

10-08-2017 00:00:00 - 10-08-2017 08:00:00

On Thursday, August 10th between 0.00h and 7.00h BIT will perform network maintenance. During this maintenance a number of network devices will be moved to a different location and several network connections will be moved. This maintenance is neccessary to enable further growth of BIT’s network.

The following services will be affected:

  • all network connections can experience short disruptions of a few seconds during switchover to alternative paths
  • customers with a VLAN between BIT-2 and InterXion Science Park (formerly known as SARA) or Equinix AM7 (formerly known as Telecity 2) will experience one or more disruptions of several minutes
  • customers with their own AMS-IX connection via BIT will experience a disruption on this connection
  • customers with a 10Gbps connection on ‘aggr-sw1.bit-2a.network.bit.nl’ (this can be found on your invoice) will experience a disruption of this connection of several minutes.
  • the ‘Pinnen over IP’ service is unavailable for some time
  • customer internet connection via NDIX or Eurofiber will be disrupted for a longer period of time
  • VLANs to Solcon will be disrupted for some time. Wavelengths to Solcon will remain operational.
  • Wavelengths between BIT-2 and InterXion Science Park (formerly known as SARA) will be shortly disrupted

Of course, we aim to reduce the customer impact of this maintenance to a minimum.

Update 07.00am: the network maintenance had some unforseen obstacles to overcome causing us to expire the maintenance window by at most one hour. We're currently in progress of bringing back all affected connections and expect to have this all working in 30, to at most 60 minutes.

Update 07.44am: all customers should have working connections. We're still working on getting redundancy back in place but this should not affect connections.

If you still have connection issues or any other questions regarding this maintenance, please contact the Customer Care department by phone on +31 (0)318 648 688 or by email on support@bit.nl.
