Emergency maintenance leaf-sw1.bit-2b and leaf-sw2.bit-2b
03-04-2019 00:00:00
- 03-04-2019 04:00:00
Urgency: Emergency
Affected services:
- Network connection leaf-sw1.bit-2b
- Network connection leaf-sw2.bit-2b
Expected Impact:
- Disruption of network connection for a couple of minutes during reboot of switch
Customer intervention required: No
Referencenumber: 161518
Contact: +31 (0)318 648 688, support@bit.nl
Summary:
Rollback of the firmware that was upgraded during the maintenance of last night. Switches will be rebooted one-by-one.
Details:
Last night both switches received new firmware and storm control was activated on them. In the course of this morning it became clear that the upgrade causes problems for customers. The same kind of problems were seen on two other switches that also received new firmware last night. After a roll back these problems were solved. We now know what caused the problems. A limited amount of customers with redundant uplinks are affected because the switches with the new firmware, that operate in pairs, do not keep their ARP tables in sync. Therefore we will roll back the changes made to switches leaf-sw1.bit-2b en leaf-sw2.bit-2b. To minimize impact for customers with a redundant network connection, the switches will be upgraded and restarted one by one. Customers with a single network connection in BIT-2B will not be connected for a few minutes during the switch reboot.
Update placed at 02-04-2019, 18:15h
In consultation with our supplier it was decided to implement a work-around instead of rollback of firmware. This limits the impact for our customers. No impact is expected during the rollout of the work-around. If you have any questions regarding this maintenance, please contact the Customer Care department by phone on +31 (0)318 648 688 or by email on support@bit.nl.
