Maintenance NetApp Metro Cluster

On the 28th, 29th and 30th of January, from 00.00 to 07.00 hrs, BIT engineers will be performing maintenance on the NetApp Metro Cluster of BIT. All services and clients that use shared storage use this Metrocluster.

During this maintenance we will, in order to optimise the NetApp Metro Cluster, migrate vfilers. This will lead to several short service disruptions. The NetApp Metro Cluster will also be upgraded to a newer release of ONTAP. After the upgrade we will reboot the filers one by one to finalize this upgrade. During the reboot of each filer the partner filer will temporarily take over all services.

Customers running on a redundant iSCSI LUN or NFS share might experience a short (max 180 seconds) outage during the take over by the partner filer. Customers are advised to check if they applied the "best-practices" for using iSCSI/NFS to avoid unnecessary downtime. For more information about these "best-practices" you can contact our Support Department. Customers that have a non-redundant iSCSI LUN or NFS share will have downtime for about 30 minutes.
