Disruption shared services, website and phone number

As a result of issues on our storage platforms the shared services like webhosting and email experienced problems between 16.27 and 16.47h. The website www.bit.nl and our phone number had problems as well. The disruption is resolved. We will update this notice to inform you on reasons for the problems.

Our storage vendor has published a critical update for the disk firmware we use on our storage systems. The disks can be updated without disruption of the services running on the disks, this procedure has been done often by our engineers. As a result of a human error all disks got their update at the same time. This caused great impact on the amount of available I/O. And that caused impact for the earlier mentioned services.
